Prerna Deep

Prerna Deep is a lawyer who comprehends criminal law as an interdisciplinary and normative tool capable of promoting justice and enriching lives. Prerna is the recipient of the British Council GREAT Scholarship (2019) for pursuing an LLM in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice at the University of Edinburgh. She holds LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi, and English Honours from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She is a qualified advocate in the Indian Jurisdiction and has worked as a Law Clerk-cum-Research-Associate to Hon’ble Mr. Justice Aniruddha Bose at the Supreme Court of India. She has a firm grasp of the contemporary narratives in legal research and recently, she has leveraged this understanding to explore her legal research and policy interests via GPODS Fellowship where she was given scholarship to pursue the three months long international virtual programme.
Prerna has authored more than forty Nationally and Internationally published research papers, book chapters, articles, and blogs. Some notable mentions are, ‘Legal Dilemma: Regulatory Offences Finding its Position in Criminal Law’ (King’s College Student Law Review, Feb 2023), ‘Examining the Immunities of a Former Head of State in International Criminal Law’(Edinburgh Napier Student Law Review, May 2022), ‘Diminishing the Spotlight of Trial: The Scope of Plea Bargaining in Criminal Justice System’, (Durham Law Review, April 2023). Prerna has been award holder in National Essay Writing Competitions on Marital Rape (2019), Extra Judicial Killing and Jurisdiction of ICC (2017), and Women and Laws (2016).
She is also an Editor-In-Chief of The Corporate Law Journal, (London, UK) and has previously been part of several reputed Editorial and Peer Review Boards of law journals and centres including- Edinburgh Student Law Review and Leviathan – University of Edinburgh Journal of Politics and International Relations (Edinburgh, UK), BLACC International Yearbook on Business Law and Dispute Resolution (Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal), Global Research Network (London, UK), D.Youth Magazine (University of Delhi, India), Indian Society for Legal Research (India).
