Dr. Risham Garg holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.), doctoral research degree, for his work on International Contracts & the UN CISG Convention. He presently teaches courses of Transnational Commercial Laws, Bankruptcy Insolvency & Restructuring, Law of Contracts, Sale of Goods, Private International Law in the Post Graduate and under graduate law degree programmes. Aspects of Legal Writing, Business Law Research Methods to the PhD research scholars. He has previously taught papers of Law of Property, Banking Laws & Negotiable Instruments, International Commercial Arbitration, Law of Tort & Consumer Protection, Legal & Constitutional History, Jurisprudence, Legal Methods.

He is continuing with the National Law University Delhi as a regular faculty member since 2009. He has previously worked as a Lecturer at the Amity Law School, (IP University Delhi) for over six years during 2002-2009. He has been invited as a visiting faculty at the Delhi Judicial Academy (DJA), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA),Indian Law Institute (ILI), Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Management, Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI), Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI), Institute of Cost Management (ICMA),National Law University Jodhpur, National Law University Odisha, National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam, ABS.

He has also acted as a consultant to the Directorate of Legal Education of the Bar Council of India. He has recently been working closely with the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) by providing valuable consultancy support, and also towards the Continuing Professional Education for Insolvency Professionals.

Since 2017, he has been spearheading the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Moot Competition (IBMC) in collaboration with the IBBI, INSOL India, SIPI. He is member of SIPI Task-force on ‘Best-Practices for Insolvency Practitioners’. In 2019, he served as the Academic Consultant to the British High Commission and CII Project on ‘Implementation of Cross-Border Insolvency and Individual Insolvency in India’.

He has been involved in publishing and presenting research papers on contemporary issues in commercial laws and active participation in consultations in various forums. He acts as an Arbitrator at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot on the International Sale of Goods (CISG Convention) at Vienna and at Hong Kong; and also at the India rounds of the Vis Pre-Moot. He has been a Visiting Research Scholar at UNCITRAL, Vienna, Austria in 2007. In 2019 he participated in “Training the Trainers of Insolvency Professionals” conducted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) World Bank Group and IBBI.

He has assisted in organizing Workshop on Jurisprudence by Prof. Upendra Baxi, ‘On how not to teach Sociological Jurisprudence’ in August 2007; and Law Day Lecture on ‘Media, Sting Operation and Privacy Law- The Regulatory Dilemma’ in November 2007. He has been the Seminar Convenor of a National Seminar and an All India Essay Competition for law students. “ADR in the era of Globalization: An Indian Perspective” in 2008 at ALS IPU. He was Seminar Convenor of- Seminar on Financial Regulation, in association with NIPFP & FSLRC in 2012; International Conference on Banking Laws & Financial Regulation in 2011, at the National Law University Delhi.

He has conducted MHRD GIAN Course on Cross-Border Business Law & Practice, October 10-23, 2016, with Prof. Bruno Zeller; MHRD GIAN Course on International Business Transactions, September 25-30, 2017; with Prof. Don Scott DeAmicis of Georgetown.
